Congressman Aderholt to Join in the Unveiling of New Methamphetamine Emergency Response Vehicle

CONGRESSMAN ADERHOLT TO JOIN IN THE UNVEILING OF NEW METHAMPHETAMINE EMERGENCY RESPONSE VEHICLE

Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) today joined DeKalb County District Attorney Mike O'Dell and DeKalb County Sheriff Cecil Reed at the unveiling of a new methamphetamine emergency response vehicle at the DeKalb County Jail Complex in Fort Payne. Congressman Aderholt helped to secure the federal funds necessary to build and equip the vehicle.

"The danger of methamphetamine has been well documented," said Congressman Aderholt. "It destroys families and lives. We must continue to do everything within our power to break their hold on our communities."

With the use of the new emergency response vehicle, law enforcement officials will be able to carry all necessary equipment to methamphetamine laboratory sites they discover. In addition to the funds used to build and equip the response vehicle, Congressman Aderholt also helped secure funds for necessary lab equipment to aid in meth investigations.

DeKalb County District Attorney Mike O' Dell said, "We greatly appreciate the Congressman's assistance in funding these important initiatives. Working together, we are putting criminals out of business and protecting people from the evils that they are manufacturing and selling."

Congressman Aderholt is a member of the Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine. Among the goals set forth by the caucus are to raise national awareness of the dangers posed by methamphetamine abuse and advance strong public policy to fight against methamphetamine manufacturing, distribution and use. He recently recorded a meth use prevention public service announcement with John Walters, the Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
