State Senator Titus Speaks On Issues Facing Women

Minority leader of the Nevada State Senate, Dina Titus (D- Clark County), traveled to Incline Village from Las Vegas Wednesday to speak to the Incline branch of the American Association of University Women about women's issues in Nevada.

During her presentation, Titus addressed the topics of education, healthcare, daycare and social service issues before some 30 AAUW members.

Titus said she is currently advocating for all-day kindergarten, educational programs in womens' prisons, tax cuts for small businesses to help them provide healthcare to employees and tax cuts for businesses who provide on-site daycare.

"Women need a daycare center where they work," Titus said.

Titus also applauded the AAUW as a support group for women with some no-frills jargon.

"If a man is a tough negotiator that is a good thing, if a women is, she's just a b-tch," Titus said, invoking laughter from attendees. "Groups like this provide moral support not found in the press or in the opposition."
