STATEMENT OF SEN. DURBIN REGARDING UNITED'S DECISION TO KEEP AIRLINE HEADQUARTERS IN CHICAGO AREA
Saturday, July 15, 2006
"United's decision reminds us there is no place like home'. I applaud United Airlines and the City of Chicago for working together to ensure that United remains Chicago's Hometown Airline'," said Durbin. "One month ago, I wrote to United CEO, Glenn Tilton, urging United to keep their corporate headquarters in the Chicago area. Today's decision recognizes a simple truth- United is as dependent on the contributions of their highly trained professionals and partnership with O'Hare as the people of Chicago are on its business. By relocating their headquarters to Downtown Chicago, United will continue to build upon the long standing relationship that has helped them become the nation's second largest airline and has generated $1 billion in wages annually for United employees in our state."
