Statement On The Governor Signing The New Congressional District Bill Into Law

Former Congressman Max Burns released the following statement regarding Governor Perdue signing the Congressional redistricting bill into law:

"I am pleased Governor Perdue signed the new Congressional redistricting bill into law, restoring common-sense into Georgia's Congressional representation. The new map rids the state of the partisan gerrymandering that split apart counties and communities of interest. It will allow Georgia's Congressional delegation to better represent their constituents in Washington. I applaud the members of the legislature for having the courage to stand up for what is right and pass a map that is fair and equitable for all Georgians."

"While it was an honor to represent the old 12th District in United States Congress, the new 12th District better reflects the values and interests of the constituents in east Georgia. I look forward to working with old friends and making new ones as we work together to meet the needs of our communities and provide a strong Georgia conservative voice in Washington."
