Simpson, Appropriators Reject $45 BILLION in New Spending
Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced today that Republicans on the Committee this year rejected $45.2 BILLION in new spending offered by Committee Democrats as amendments to the 11 annual appropriations bills.
"While Republican lawmakers are working to reduce discretionary spending and eliminate wasteful programs, the American people need to understand that Democrats are working to raise taxes and dramatically increase the size of the federal government," said Congressman Simpson. "The record of Democrats on the Appropriations Committee demonstrates there is no program they can live without nor any amount of taxpayer money that will satisfy their appetites for growing government. I am proud that Republicans have rejected this increased spending and are tightening the belts of federal agencies."
