Data Theft Impacting Active Duty Military Personnel
Congressman Sanders will question Secretary of Veterans' Affairs R. James Nicholson during his testimony before the House Government Reform Committee tomorrow.
Sanders said, "It is absolutely unconscionable that the leadership of the V.A. has compromised the personal information of nearly 80% of our active duty military personnel. The last thing these brave men and women should have to worry about while serving our country overseas is their identities being stolen because of government incompetence. This colossal security blunder is being compounded by the V.A.'s inability to offer straight answers about the extent of this security breach. The V.A. owes our soldiers and our veterans answers about how this security failure happened, what kind of support they will offer to those impacted, and how they will prevent it from ever happening again. I hope that Mr. Nicholson will start by giving us some straight answers in tomorrow's Government Reform Committee hearing."
