Sen. Obama Stresses Duckworth's Leadership, Credentials Highlights in Campaign's 2ed Cable TV Ad

SEN. OBAMA STRESSES DUCKWORTH'S LEADERSHIP, CREDENTIALS HIGHLIGHTS IN CAMPAIGN'S 2ND CABLE TV AD

In a new campaign advertisement that underscores Tammy Duckworth's ability to generate impressive support for her issues-based campaign, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama speaks to voters of Illinois' 6th Congressional district about Duckworth's unique leadership skills, courage and credentials, predicting that she will be a "powerful voice for our priorities."

The 30 second ad began airing Thursday on cable systems across the 6th district.

"Every so often, you meet someone in public life who's truly extraordinary, someone you know will make a difference," Obama says, speaking into the camera.

"Tammy Duckworth has great credentials: a master's degree in international relations, and scholarly work on public health. She also has a special connection with people," he adds.

"From health care to education and pension security, Tammy will be a powerful voice for our priorities. A person of conscience and proven courage: Tammy Duckworth's a leader we can count on."

It is Duckworth second TV ad of the campaign. Duckworth's first 30-second ad began running Tuesday in which she speaks about health care, a centerpiece issue in her campaign. Both ads can be viewed at the campaign website, www.duckworthforcongress.com.

As the latest ad points out, in addition to Sen. Obama's endorsement, Duckworth has also earned the endorsement of U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, the Illinois AFL-CIO, the Illinois Federation of Teachers, Citizen Action/Illinois and Planned Parenthood of Illinois.

"I am extremely gratified to have earned the support of Senators Durbin and Obama, as well as people across the 6th district who are eager to have someone fighting on their side in the U.S. House," she said.

"I welcome their endorsement of my campaign, and look forward to working with our two Senators to improve people's access to health care, expand opportunities for our students and protect the economic security of Illinois' working families and retirees," Duckworth said.
