Congressman Henry Cuellar Announces $1,038,000 USDA Grant For Moore Waste Water Treatment

Washington, DC- Congressman Henry Cuellar announced today that the community of Moore, a designated colonia, will receive a $1,038,000 grant from USDA to construct a waste water collection system and treatment plant. Moore residents have also been approved to receive a $100,000 loan to help assist in the building and implementation of the system.

Congressman Cuellar noted, "This grant is imperative for the health and well being of Moore, a small colonia that has never had a wastewater disposal system. This is a step in the right direction to bring the community of Moore up to an acceptable standard of living."

The proposed wastewater system will allow the Water Supply Corporation service area to provide Moore a safe, sanitary means for disposing of wastewater for the first time. Along with the grant and loan, Texas Water Development Board is supplying $1,160,000 in leverage funds.

Charleen Greenhill, General Manager for Moore Water Supply Corporation said, "These federal funds will be most helpful in acquiring much needed technologies including a gravity collection system and a treatment plant which will provide cleaner, healthier water for over 100 citizens in and around the City of Moore."
