Recognizing the 75th Anniversary of Vienna Little League

Mr. WALKINSHAW. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize a remarkable milestone in our Northern Virginia community, the 75th anniversary of Vienna Little League.

For seventy-five years, Vienna Little League has served as a cornerstone of youth development in the Town of Vienna, providing generations of children with the opportunity to learn the game of baseball while building character, confidence, and lifelong friendships. Since its founding, the league has embodied the very best of community spirit, bringing together families, volunteers, and local leaders in support of our youth.

Vienna Little League has played an essential role in shaping young lives both on and off the field. Through its commitment to teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance, the league has instilled values that extend far beyond the game itself. Thousands of players have come through its program, many of whom carry forward the lessons they learned into their schools, careers, and communities.

In addition to its longstanding tradition, Vienna Little League continues to achieve excellence at the highest levels of youth baseball. In 2022, its 9-11U All-Star team captured the Southeast Regional Title for the first time in over fifty years, and in 2023, its 8-11-Year-Old team once again brought home the Southeast Regional Title. These accomplishments reflect not only athletic talent, but also the strength of the league's coaching, mentorship. and community support.

Equally impressive is the continued vitality of the league itself. Even in an era where travel baseball has become increasingly prevalent, Vienna Little League remains a thriving and accessible program, with nearly 1,000 players registered for the 2026 spring season. This remarkable level of participation is a testament to the enduring value of community-based athletics and the strong sense of belonging that Vienna Little League fosters.

At the heart of Vienna Little League's success is its dedicated network of volunteers, including coaches, board members, umpires, and parents, who generously give their time and energy year after year. Their commitment ensures that each season provides a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment where every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.

The 75th anniversary of Vienna Little League is not only a celebration of its history, but also a testament to its enduring impact on the community. It reflects decades of hard work, community investment, and a shared belief in the importance of youth engagement through athletics.
