Recognizing the Retirement of Bill Partridge

Mr. ROGERS of Alabama. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and honor Bill Partridge. After almost 40 years of service, Oxford Police Chief and Public Safety Director, Bill Partridge, announced his retirement starting May 1, 2026. Chief Partridge joined the Oxford Police Department in 1989 and was first appointed Chief of Police in July 2007.

Chief Partridge served as the president of the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) two times, as well as chairman of the AACOP legislative committee, former chairman of the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission, advisory board chairman for the Center of Best Practices in Law Enforcement at Jacksonville State University, and vice president of the FBI National Academy Associates-- Alabama Chapter.

During his tenure as Chief of Police, Partridge became a known leader in law enforcement across the state of Alabama and helped secure funding and support for the East Metro Alabama Crime Center. This facility is a state-of-the-art building that works in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies in the region, state, and across the country to help fight crime.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in recognizing and celebrating the extraordinary career of my friend, Bill Partridge. I thank him for his service to the State of Alabama.
