Gov. Rounds Proclaims State Employee Recognition Day

Gov. Mike Rounds has signed an Executive Proclamation naming Wednesday, May 3, as State Employee Recognition Day in South Dakota and urging all citizens to notice and appreciate the contributions of South Dakota's state employees.

In a message to fellow state employees, Gov. Rounds said, "Please join me in reflecting upon your accomplishments, as well as the accomplishments of your co-workers. I hope you feel a great deal of pride and satisfaction for all you contribute to our state. I have proclaimed this day to acknowledge and appreciate your important hard work and your successes."

Whereas,South Dakota's state employees make a difference in the well-being and quality of life for all the citizens of South Dakota; and,

Whereas, South Dakota's state employees often work behind the scenes, performing valuable and vital services that benefit our citizens. From adoption, aging and mental health services to public education, revenue collection, disaster and emergency relief services, highway maintenance and public health services, dedicated men and women serve their fellow citizens with a caring spirit and a determined purpose; and,

Whereas, South Dakota's state employees continually answer the call to needs such as United Way, American Red Cross and other community charities with inspiring generosity and kindness; and,

Whereas,The dedication of government employees who conduct the public's business is often unrecognized despite the essential services they perform; and,

Whereas, South Dakota's state employees are truly public servants whose selfless acts and dedication are worthy of praise and recognition; and,

Whereas, The 2006 observance of South Dakota State Employee Recognition Day provides a time to express our appreciation and gratitude to all state employees for their hard work in making South Dakota an even better place to live, work and visit:

Now, Therefore, I, M. Michael Rounds, Governor of the state of South Dakota, do hereby proclaim May 3, 2006, as

STATE EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION DAY

in South Dakota, and I urge all citizens to notice and appreciate the contributions of South Dakota's state employees.
