DeLauro Tours CT River Salmon Association School Program

Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (Conn.-3) today visited the Middletown High School's Vocational Agriculture building to tour the Connecticut River Salmon Association (CRSA) School program. The CRSA is a nonprofit organization that supports the effort to restore Atlantic salmon in the Connecticut River basin together with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of the National Marine Fisheries Service. Middletown Future Farmers of America Student Officers guided DeLauro on the tour.

"No one has more passion and energy when it comes to the environment and our natural resources than young people," said DeLauro. "Fostering that connection early in life creates a lifelong bond - a respect for the environment that plays out in so many ways. What is special about the program is that students from kindergarten through high school actively participate in every phase of the program - from the rearing in the classroom to the collection process to the stocking at selected locations in the Connecticut River."
