Hoeven Proclaims May 4 A Day Of Prayer In North Dakota

Gov. John Hoeven, in accordance with national prayer day, has proclaimed Thursday, May 4, 2006, a Day of Prayer in North Dakota.

"The National Days of Prayer is a venerable American tradition," Hoeven said. "The first such day was proclaimed by the Continental Congress on July 20, 1775. A day of prayer is an opportunity to renew and inspire the joy we find in faith, friends, family and communities to remember our brave men and women who are fighting to defend our country and preserve our freedoms, and to recognize those who have returned safely home..."

To commemorate the day, and to encourage prayer and reflection, there will be a ceremony tomorrow at the state Capitol Building in Bismarck, 600 E. Boulevard Ave.
