Mr. FOSTER. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize and congratulate La Quinta de Los Reyes in Aurora, Illinois, for being named the 2024 Small Business of the Year by the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This award is a testament to the restaurant's dedication to exceptional service, cultural enrichment, and community engagement,
Established in 2003 by Jesus Sanchez, an immigrant from Durango, Mexico, La Quinta de Los Reyes began as a family dream that has since become a culinary cornerstone of the Aurora community. Since 2014, together with his partner Claudia Urrutia, also an immigrant from Durango, Mexico they have overseen the growth of this business creating an atmosphere that celebrates Hispanic culture and traditions, while demonstrating a commitment to fostering inclusivity, supporting local events, and giving back to the community.
Beyond its culinary offerings, La Quinta de Los Reyes hosts traditional celebrations, such as Reyes Magos, gifting thousands of toys to children in the community, and Dia de Los Ninos, bringing families together for a fun-filled day of children's activities and delicious food.
Located at 36 East New York Street, La Quinta de Los Reyes occupies a historic building that dates back to the 1820s. This site has evolved over the years, from housing a shoe store and the Grand Lodge of the Knights and Ladies of Honor, to hosting Jacob Bellon's German Tavern in the early 1900s. Today, La Quinta de Los Reyes exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit that makes small businesses the lifeblood of our economy.
Mr. Speaker, I am proud to have a family enterprise like La Quinta de Los Reyes in my district, to serve as a reminder of the essential role that Hispanic-owned businesses play in shaping the economic and cultural fabric of our Nation. I invite my colleagues to join me in congratulating Jesus Sanchez, Claudia Urrutia, and their entire family and team on this well-deserved honor.
