Recognizing April 2024 Constituent of the Month

BREAK IN TRANSCRIPT

Mr. LEVIN. Mr. Speaker, it is my great honor to recognize a leading figure in our local health care community, Deysi Merino-Gonzalez, as my Constituent of the Month for April 2024.

A Vista resident, Deysi immigrated to the United States from Mexico almost 20 years ago. After joining the Vista Community Clinic as a community health specialist in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Deysi played an important role in bringing vaccines and health care to agricultural workers in my district.

Thanks to her efforts, Deysi was awarded the 2020 Jugel & Zuroweste Health Justice Award by the Migrant Clinicians Network. This nationwide nonprofit addresses the health needs of migrants, immigrants, and other underserved communities. Deysi's previous experiences have given her valuable insight to understand how to improve our health care system for everyone.

Deysi's work to provide countless migrant and immigrant farmers in my district and region with vital access to health care is inspirational, and I'm proud to honor her as my April 2024 Constituent of the Month.
