Stefanik Urges Biden-Harris Administration to Issue Major Disaster Declarations Following Tropical Storm Debby in North Country Counties and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe

Dear President Biden,

I write in strong support of the State of New York's request for a major disaster declaration for the widespread damage and flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby from August 8-10, 2024. A major disaster declaration is critical to restoring these communities. I request that you swiftly consider and approve the State's request.

In my Congressional District, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, and St. Lawrence Counties experienced devastating flooding, widespread road closures, and damages resulting in long detours and delaying emergency response, The severity of the damage inflicted has left county and town governments scrambling to make repairs. With the continued interruptions to the community as repairs are made and winter weather rapidly approaching it is essential that these communities receive the help that this disaster declaration will provide.

My office and I are ready to work with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to deliver support and resources to our impacted communities.
