"I want to congratulate Laphonza Butler on this historic day for our state. I'm confident she will serve the people of California in the U.S. Senate with dignity and a deep commitment to our shared values. I am excited to work with her, alongside Senator Alex Padilla, to put People Over Politics as House Democrats prioritize lowering costs, creating good-paying jobs, building safer communities and defending democracy.
