Proclamation - Child Abuse Prevention Month
WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect are serious problems, and finding a solution depends
upon the involvement of people within the community; and
WHEREAS, approximately 6,800 children are reported abused and neglected in this state
each year; and
WHEREAS, effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships
created between the county social service agencies, public and private schools, the medical
communities, religious and civic organizations, the legislative bodies of the state, law
enforcement and the business community; and
WHEREAS, all citizens share the responsibility of raising the awareness of and preventing
child abuse, and supporting families in their efforts to provide a safe and nurturing
environment for all of North Dakota's children.
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim
April 2006, CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH in the state of North Dakota.
