Ranking Member Scott Statement on July Jobs Report

Statement

"Today's jobs report shows that President Biden's economic agenda is continuing to deliver for the American people. Inflation has declined, the unemployment rate remains near historic lows, workers have seen increases in their wages, and our job market remains robust.

Regrettably, House Republicans continue to threaten our economic progress. After months of ignoring the needs of our constituents in favor of pursuing culture wars, my Republican colleagues are now trying to force through a series of devastating budget cuts that would hurt workers, their families, and our economy. This harmful economic agenda has even contributed to a downgrade to our nation's credit rating.

It took bold leadership from President Biden and Congressional Democrats to put our economy on the path to recovery and historic growth. Now is not the time to reverse course and take our economy backward. To that end, I urge all my colleagues to join me in rejecting House Republicans' proposed budget cuts and reinvesting in our nation's workers."
