McCaul Meets with President
Disscussion Includes Border Security, Troops in Iraq and Texas Drought

(Washington D.C.)- Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) spent an hour with President George W. Bush and several other Members of Congress Wednesday afternoon discussing the major issues impacting both the United States and Congressman McCaul's Tenth Congressional District.

President Bush listened as Congressman McCaul spoke about the crisis along America's Southwest border and his hearings as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Investigations for the Homeland Security Committee.

"President Bush made it clear he understands the grave situation with regard to border violence and illegal immigration. He knows that our nation needs more border patrol agents, more enforcement of our border laws and ultimately real legislation to make sure the flow of illegal immigration ends," stated McCaul.

The President also spoke to Congressman McCaul and the other Members about the need to stay the course in Iraq. The President told the group that the only way America could lose the war would be to give up.

"The President welcomed our input and suggestions on what America needs to do on issues ranging from border security and the war in Iraq to the drought in Texas. I was particularly pleased that the President knew about the severe damage caused by the drought in and around the Texas Tenth. He promised to work hard to make it easier for the ranchers and farmers in my district to recover," stated Congressman McCaul.
