Governor Kathy Hochul today issued a proclamation designating March as Women's History Month to celebrate the achievements of New York women. In recognition, New York State landmarks will be lit purple tonight, March 1.

"From Waterloo to Seneca Falls, New York State has cemented its place in history as the birthplace of the women's rights movement, and I know I would not be here as the first female Governor were it not for the brave women who have blazed the trails that I have walked," Governor Hochul said. "This month and every month, we will continue working hard to honor the legacy of all those who fought tirelessly for equality and ensure that we build a brighter, more just future for our daughters and granddaughters."
