Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA), co-chair of the Friends of Ireland Caucus, released the following statement on President Biden's appointment of former Congressman Joe Kennedy III to serve as the special envoy to Northern Ireland for Economic Affairs:
"Massachusetts'-own Joe Kennedy has been a friend to the island of Ireland and understands the immense progress that has been made since the Good Friday Agreement. As Special Envoy, he will be a catalyst for stability and demonstrate the United States' enduring commitment to peace. Now is the time to look ahead to what's possible, and I thank President Biden for making this critical appointment."
