Rep. Ted Budd Votes to Increase Police Funding

Today, Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) voted for House measures to provide more resources to police departments across North Carolina.

H.R. 6448, the Invest to Protect Act, increases Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grants to local and tribal governments with fewer than 125 law enforcement officers.

H.R. 5768, the VICTIM Act, creates a new $1 billion grant program within the DOJ's Office of Justice Programs for state and local governments to fund various activities to increase the rate of clearance of violent crime cases, including: homicides, rapes, sexual assaults, kidnappings, and non-fatal shootings.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"When lives are on the line and seconds count, the men and women of law enforcement are there to protect and serve our communities, and that is something all elected officials must support. Backing the blue is especially important now, as we see rogue prosecutors and activist judges intervene to undercut those who fight crime. Now is the time to increase police funding and give law enforcement our full support, and I was proud to support bills today that do just that."
