Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has co-sponsored H.R. 2037, the Jumpstart Our Businesses by Supporting Students Act.

The bipartisan bill would extend Pell Grant eligibility to qualified 8-15 week job training programs. The courses would be required to be tailored to the skills necessary for high-skilled, in-demand professions and would prepare graduates for any licensing exam needed to enter the field. The programs would be taught by institutions of higher education or a post-secondary vocational institution.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Providing students with affordable career training opportunities is a key way that we can help young folks find success in in-demand careers that don't force them into a 4-year university degree. I'm proud to sign onto a bipartisan bill that would help achieve this goal."
