Today, Representative Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court's decision on Berger v. North Carolina State Conference of the NAACP:
"The overwhelming majority of North Carolinians, myself included, support strong voter I.D. requirements. Their will must be respected. The Supreme Court's 8-1 decision today affirms that state statutes can be defended in court by authorized legislators against challenges of constitutionality. North Carolinians deserve nothing less than a full-throated defense of their laws in court. I'm very delighted with today's decision -- it is an undeniable step in the right direction, and I look forward to seeing the state's voter I.D. law become fully implemented soon."
