Davids Votes to Strengthen Supply Chains, Lower Costs, and Support American Manufacturing

Today, Representative Sharice Davids voted to pass bipartisan legislation aimed at lowering costs for Kansas families and making more goods in America. The CHIPS and Science Act is a major investment in domestic semiconductor chip manufacturing and includes support for small- and medium-sized manufacturers, a Davids-led priority to ensure funding is distributed beyond large corporations. The bill now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

Davids served alongside Senator Jerry Moran as a key negotiator for the major economic package known as the America COMPETES Act, aimed at strengthening supply chains, reducing inflation, and increasing America's global competitiveness. The bill passed today serves as a bipartisan compromise stemming from that negotiation.

"Chips are essential components of many things Kansans use daily, from cars to computers to medical devices, and the shortage has been driving up prices across industries," said Davids. "While this bill is not perfect, it includes many priorities I've long supported and is a huge step towards fixing our supply chains, creating good-paying jobs, tackling inflation, and improving America's competitiveness against countries like China. As a negotiator of this bill, I've been working to promote domestic manufacturing for months, and while I celebrate this major, bipartisan win today, I will get right back to work tomorrow."
