Governor Gianforte Secures Individual Assistance for Yellowstone County, Public Assistance for Flathead County from FEMA

Governor Greg Gianforte today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved the state's request for an Individual Assistance Program for Montanans impacted by recent flooding in Yellowstone County, as well as the state's request for a Public Assistance Program for Flathead County.

"I appreciate Administrator Deanne Criswell and her team at FEMA for working with us to quickly review and approve both Individual Assistance and Public Assistance for Montanans impacted by recent flooding," Gov. Gianforte said. "These programs will help Montanans get back on their feet as we rebuild and recover."

Gov. Gianforte submitted a request to FEMA to activate the Individual Assistance program under the presidential major disaster declaration due to the devastating impact recent flooding has had on Montanans' private property and livelihoods.

The governor's request demonstrated the need for direct federal assistance to impacted homeowners and communities in Yellowstone County. This included initial damage assessments to primary residences and structures.

The federal aid that accompanies the activation of the Individual Assistance program will supplement state and local resources already at work to support Montanans impacted by the flooding.

For Flathead County, the FEMA Public Assistance Program provides supplemental federal grant assistance for debris removal and the restoration of disaster-damaged, publicly owned facilities, and specific facilities of certain private nonprofit organizations.
