Congressman Correa Votes to Pass Annual Defense Legislation That Will Support Service Members and the National Security of the United States

Today, Rep. Lou Correa (D-CA) voted for the passage of H.R. 7900, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), for Fiscal Year 2023. This legislation will strengthen U.S. national security by supporting the development of new technologies, coordination with America's global network of allies and partners, and expand benefits for service members, veterans and their families.

"The NDAA was passed by the House today, demonstrating that we are more dedicated than ever to those who defend our country in the armed forces. We expect a great deal from our military personnel. We owe it to them to make certain they have the resources and assistance they require to complete their job and return home safely and securely. By increasing military pay, upgrading military housing, expanding childcare services, and finally providing benefits, the NDAA puts our service members' needs first. Additionally, the bill strengthens our international alliances and partnerships at a critical time for democracy. One of my top responsibilities is to ensure the safety and security of Americans and to improve our nation's defenses.

I'm proud that the NDAA also includes my bill, the Homeland Procurement Reform Act, to increase high-quality uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE) during national security emergencies for frontline personnel and also support American manufacturers by requiring one-third of purchases to be from qualified U.S. small businesses."
