Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06) issued the following statement after the passing of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

"I am shocked and horrified by the assassination of former Prime Minister Abe," said Congresswoman Matsui. "Prime Minister Abe was a champion of democracy, a dedicated public servant, and a great friend to the United States. His love of the Japanese people and his commitment to peace and prosperity across the world leave an enduring legacy for generations to come. My prayers are with the Abe family and the Japanese people during this terrible time.
