REMARKS [AS PREPARED]: 2006 CHAIRMAN'S POLITICAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD -- YOUNGSTOWN WARREN REGIONAL CHAMBER

I want to thank the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber for inviting me here today. It is a great honor to accept the 2006 Chairman's Political Achievement Award for the Delegation's work during the 2005 BRAC process.

It was a great pleasure to work with together with the delegation and the greater Youngstown community throughout the process. It was definitely a team effort and a spirit of common purpose that got us the results.

I want especially to thank the community group known as SOAR -- Save Our Airbase Reservists. This group, led by Reid Duhlberger and General Michael Gjede, was critical to the BRAC decision to keep the unit here in Youngstown and completely intact. I applaud their success.

Most importantly, I want to thank the men and women who serve our country as part of the 910th Airlift Wing. These brave and courageous men and women make great contributions to our community and our national security day after day after day.

Without their dedication, commitment, and service, we would have had a very different story to tell throughout the BRAC process. And so, to you and your families, who make equal sacrifices at home, I say thank you.
