Today, Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) released the following statement after the Biden administration suspended creation of a new Disinformation Governance Board within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS):
"This administration's efforts to regulate Americans' freedom of speech online are straight out of 1984, and they represent a gross violation of our First Amendment. Additionally, it is no coincidence that President Biden's decision to launch this board came only days after Twitter was purchased by Elon Musk, a self-described free speech absolutist. I am glad this Orwellian board is now scrapped; it should have never been proposed."
