Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement before voting to pass a package of common sense gun safety bills:

"I shouldn't have to worry if my son will be safe from gun violence at school or if I will be shot while grocery shopping. But the slaughter of students at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde and shoppers at Tops Friendly Markets in Buffalo were more tragic reminders of the reality of gun violence in America. My vote today is a vote to keep my Carter, and everyone in this country safe. We can't simply move on from tragedies. The House of Representatives is once again doing its job to keep people safe. Now, the Senate must act quickly on these lifesaving bills. How can anyone continue to debate if guns are worth more than people?"
