Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has co-sponsored H.R. 7525 - Protecting Charter Schools from Federal Overreach Act. The bill would block the Biden administration's new regulations on charter schools.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA) and supported by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools.

Rep. Budd sent Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona a letter opposing the regulations on March 28, 2022 because they would severely limit educational choice for countless parents and children across North Carolina and the United States.

Rep. Budd said in a statement:

"Every student across this country should have a fair shot at a decent education. Parents and students deserve more educational options and more freedom to determine what's best for their family and their future. The Biden administration's proposed regulations are a blatant attempt to undermine charter schools and limit choice. That's why I'm proud to join Rep. Steel's critical bill to put a stop to it."
