Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) has sponsored H.R. 3294, the Institutional Grants for New Infrastructure, Technology, and Education (IGNITE) for HBCU Excellence Act.
The bill creates a new grant program to support improvements of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), such as repairs and upgrades to campus facilities, new construction, and security improvements.
The bill was originally introduced by Rep. Alma Adams (D-NC).
Rep. Budd said in a statement:
"Providing economic opportunity for all is a crucial mission for me in Congress and it all starts with education. I'm proud to support Rep. Adams' bill to improve HBCUs around North Carolina and across our country."
