Letter to Joseph R. Biden, President of the United States - Governor Stitt Demands President Biden Take Immediate Action to Embrace Domestic Oil and Gas Production

Dear Mr. President,

Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine is deeply troubling. My heart is with the people of Ukraine and
those fighting to defend them, and you are in my prayers as you face difficult decisions in the days and weeks ahead.

I am writing to urge you to act immediately to strengthen the United States and our allies abroad by
embracing America's domestic crude oil and natural gas industry.
Every administration since 1973, Republican and Democrat, prioritized American energy independence -- until yours. The recent events in Ukraine are yet another example of why we should be selling energy to our friends and not buying it from our enemies.

Energy-producing states like Oklahoma are ready to step up domestic production in an environmentally responsible way. My state is the nation's fourth largest producer of natural gas and sixth largest in oil production. At the same time, we reduced carbon dioxide emissions from the power sector by three times the national average as measured against the administration's 2005 benchmark. With your support, we can significantly increase production to meet America's domestic needs and export energy to our allies, reducing their dependence on foreign adversaries.

Just a few weeks ago, a Russian liquified natural gas tanker was docked in Boston Harbor, delivering gas to Americans in New England due to a lack of domestic oil and gas transport infrastructure.
It is unfathomable and inexcusable that some Americans are forced to depend on Vladimir Putin for their energy needs as he wages war against Ukraine instead of their own country.
Therefore, I am requesting that your administration takes three immediate actions:
* Halt the importation of Russian crude oil and natural gas products.
* Embrace American oil and natural gas producers and work with them to increase output to meet
domestic demand and increase exports to our allies.
* Encourage, instead of discouraging or blocking, the construction of U.S. crude oil and natural gas
infrastructure, including pipelines that would transport natural gas to the east coast.

Mr. President, energy security is national security. Right now, ahead of your first State of the Union
address, there is a window of opportunity to reverse course on your administration's resistance to
domestic oil and gas production. I encourage you to embrace American energy producing states here at home. Now is the time to put politics aside and work together to regain our energy independence and support our allies around the globe.

America has proven time and time again that it can produce the cleanest, most efficient energy in the
world. The State of Oklahoma and our proud energy producers stand willing and able to assist you in this effort.
