Rep. Delgado Announces More Than $3 Million For Broome County Hospital System

Statement

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) announced $3,069,039.02 in federal funding for United Health Services, Inc. to reimburse the costs of emergency protective measures undertaken because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding was allocated through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This funding will cover the purchase of personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfecting supplies, construction materials for the conversion of existing patient rooms to COVID-19 ready rooms, and staff contracts to support Covid response units.

"When the COVID-19 pandemic began more than two years ago, our New York hospitals and frontline workers stepped up and cared for our communities in crisis, and they haven't stopped since," said Rep. Delgado. "I'm glad to announce this funding for United Health Services Inc. to help cover their emergency response efforts in the Southern Tier. As we all continue to recover from the pandemic, we must ensure our health care providers have the resources and support they need."

Formed in 1981 through consolidation of community hospitals, Wilson Medical Center, Binghamton General Hospital, Chenango Memorial Hospital, Delaware Valley Hospital; United Health Services employs more than 6,500 people in the Southern Tier. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UHS utilized materials, rental equipment, and contracts to provide emergency protective measures.
