Rep. Delgado Holds Student Town Hall at New Lebanon High School
Statement
Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) held a student town hall with students at the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School. Congressman Delgado answered questions about the work he does to serve his communities, write and pass legislation that benefits New Yorkers, and the issue areas he focuses on. Since his first term, Delgado has prioritized being accessible to his constituents by communicating directly, both virtually and in person, across New York's 19th Congressional District.
"We had another great student town hall today with juniors and seniors at the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School," said Rep. Delgado. "Their questions demonstrated a clear interest in creating policies and initiatives that help our communities and strengthen our society. I will keep working to do both of those things and always appreciate the input and advice of my constituents, regardless of age."
"It is so important for every citizen, regardless of political affiliation, to have access to their Congressional Representative and elected officials in general," said Principal Matthew Klafehn. "We are so appreciative to have had this opportunity with Congressman Delgado. Throughout his time in office, he has had regular appearances in our buildings and has sought to make meaningful connections with our students. I also cannot express how proud I am of our juniors and seniors who came prepared and challenged their Congressman with some very tough questions of the issues that are affecting our nation and our world. I hope that our kids realized that they do in fact have a voice, which if used effectively, can work to positively influence their community."
"I think it's really important for him to come and engage with our students because it's very eye-opening for them," said English Language Arts Teacher Brooke Dickson. "We live in a small community, they're not exposed to much and I think it's really important to reiterate how their voices can be heard at a grander level other than just interacting with their teachers and local community members."
