Rep. Delgado Holds Student Town Hall at Schoharie Central School

Statement

Date: March 23, 2022
Location: Schoharie, NY

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) held a student town hall with students at the Schoharie Central School. Congressman Delgado answered questions about his job as a Representative, how he connects with constituents all over the district, and what he does to solve problems and find solutions. Since the beginning of his time in Congress, Delgado has prioritized being transparent and accountable to the communities he represents by actively engaging with events like town halls, meetings, and visits across the district.

"It was my pleasure speaking with students from the Schoharie Central School at this afternoon's student town hall," said Rep. Delgado. "I'm glad I was able to answer their questions and connect with them about my work in Congress. One of my main goals is to remain accessible and transparent by being on the ground and hearing from people of all ages."

"Schoharie High School's Student Government hosted a town hall meeting with Congressman Delgado for students in 10th-12th grade. Students and staff alike were struck by the Congressman's authenticity," said Music Teacher, DEI Coordinator, and Student Government Advisor Carrie Styles. "He spoke to them as a person, not as a politician and because of this he was able to connect and engage in a meaningful way. He encouraged questions from the crowd and emphasized the importance of youth's role in government and politics, telling them that they were the reason he had hope for the future. From topics like agriculture to hip-hop and small businesses to education, the Congressman made it clear that working to understand and meet the needs of his constituents is his highest priority. His visit is already inspiring our students, as one expressed to me after the event, "I could see myself being involved in politics after today"."
