Rep. Delgado Holds American Manufacturing Roundtable to Amplify Importance of America COMPETES Act

Yesterday, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) held a roundtable discussion at SUNY Oneonta, where participants focused on American manufacturing and the House-passed America COMPETES Act. Rep. Delgado brought together local manufacturers, labor, economic development leaders, and education professionals to discuss the importance of growing the domestic semiconductor industry and building an advanced manufacturing workforce.

"In order to set our future generations up for success, we must invest in American manufacturing, American jobs, and American goods," said Rep. Delgado. "It was great to join an array of panelists, all of whom brought a wealth of information and knowledge to the table when it comes to growing American manufacturing in the advanced technology space."

"We were thrilled to host such an esteemed panel of stakeholders on a topic of such importance," said SUNY Oneonta President Alberto Cardelle. "Four-year colleges such as SUNY Oneonta serve an important role as drivers in regional economic development, innovation, and planning. Legislation such as the America COMPETES Act and the provisions therein will provide regional comprehensives with additional tools to leverage their human and social capital in new and unique ways."

On February 4, 2022, the House passed the America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (America COMPETES) Act of 2022, including Rep. Delgado's amendment to establish local manufacturing and innovation hubs. Delgado's amendment is based on his bipartisan MADE HERE Act. The America COMPETES Act is a bold legislative package that makes transformational new investments in research, innovation and American manufacturing that will ensure that America can outcompete any nation in the world, now and for decades to come.
