Rep. Delgado Visits and Meets with Medical Associates of Hudson Valley

Statement

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) visited and met with physicians and staff from the Medical Associates of Hudson Valley (MAHV). MAHV is a multi-specialty group practice that serves the healthcare needs of patients in Ulster, Dutchess, Greene, and Columbia counties. The group discussed COVID-19 and how current and upcoming legislation will affect medical care.

"Our health care providers and New York health centers have been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Rep. Delgado. "I was glad to meet with folks from the Medical Associates of Hudson Valley and talk through our efforts in Congress to continue supporting health facilities and providers during these challenging times. I will keep advocating on behalf of upstate medical professionals and make sure they have the resources they need to provide care."

Congressman Delgado has worked to support health care providers, community health centers, and hospitals throughout his time in Congress. Earlier this year, Rep. Delgado joined Rep. Elise Stefanik in sending a letter to Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in a continued effort to support vulnerable hospitals at risk of losing their Critical Access Hospital status. In July 2021, Rep. Delgado sent a letter to Congressional leadership in support of hospital infrastructure funding. Delgado is also a cosponsor of the Mental Health Professionals Workforce Shortage Loan Repayment Act which establishes a loan repayment program for mental health care providers who commit to working in designated communities with a lack of accessible care.

Delgado also called on Congress to delay harmful Medicare cuts to physicians, cuts that would have further hurt access to healthcare for New Yorkers. Following this call, Congress passed bipartisan legislation delaying these harmful Medicare cuts those physicians were facing on January 1, 2022.
