McCaul Named Vice Chairman of U.S.-Mexico American Delegation

(Washington D.C.)- Congressman Michael McCaul has been named Vice Chairman of the U.S.-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Group (I.P.G.) by Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert of Illinois. The American I.P.G. delegation consists of Members of the United States House of Representatives and Senate.

Every year the U.S.-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Group meets to discuss issues and events involving the two nations, and last year the meetings were held in Rhode Island. This year, Mexico is serving as the host nation and is hosting the meetings in Valle de Bravo, which will begin on March 2 and continue through March 5, 2006.

"My position as Vice Chairman will better help me seek and find solutions to the pressing issues facing U.S.-Mexico relations," stated Congressman Michael McCaul. McCaul went on to say, "Obviously, the biggest issue facing America and Texas as it relates to Mexico is border security. That will be the one of the major issues raised in our discussions with the Mexican delegation."

Congressman McCaul has worked in several capacities to address border security since his election in 2004. As Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Investigations, he is also currently looking into the growing crisis of violence along America's border with Mexico.

"These meetings will give both American and Mexican lawmakers the opportunity to sit down face to face and discuss the very serious problems our countries are currently battling," stated Congressman Michael McCaul. McCaul went on to say, "I look forward to honest discussions about the issues."
