Congressman Biggs: We Must Hold DHS Accountable

Today, Congressman Andy Biggs, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security, along with eight colleagues from the committee, sent a letter to Chairwoman Sheila Jackson Lee demanding she hold a hearing on the recent reports that ICE released an illegal alien with ties to terrorism from custody because he might catch COVID-19 in a detention facility.

"If these reports are true, then we must hold DHS accountable,"said Congressman Andy Biggs. "Releasing an illegal alien with terrorist ties into our country because they might catch COVID-19 is immoral and dangerous. This is yet another example of the Biden administration's failed policies making America less safe. DHS has a duty to protect the American people. This report indicates that the Biden administration is placing fear of COVID-19 above our national security. I'm calling on Chairwoman Jackson Lee to hold a hearing so we can get to the bottom of this."
