Armstrong Joins Efforts to Nullify Biden's Healthcare COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

Statement

Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) joined Congressmen Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Fred Keller (R-PA) and 55 other colleagues in calling on Speaker Nancy Pelosi to bring Duncan's Congressional Review Act to end President Joe Biden's COVID-19 vaccine mandate on federally-funded healthcare employees to the House floor for a vote.

"The sweeping vaccine mandate on America's healthcare professionals is overreaching and does nothing to improve the quality of care in our communities, especially in rural areas like North Dakota,"said Congressman Armstrong. "The decision to get a vaccine is a personal one that should be made between an individual and their medical provider, not imposed on them by the government. It is time to bring this CRA to a vote and end federal vaccine mandates."

Background: In December, House Republicans opposed Biden's COVID-19 vaccine mandate on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services through a Congressional Review Act to halt Biden's mandate. The Congressional Review Act process is the legal process whereby Congress can overturn an Administration regulation once it has been properly noticed. "Proper notice" occurs once a regulation is printed in the Federal Register and received by the Clerks of the House and Senate. The CMS vaccine mandate regulation was printed in the Federal Register on November 5, 2021. It was noted as received by the Senate Clerk on December 1, 2021, and by the House Clerk on December 9, 2021. Now that all three of those notices have been received, a CRA receives privilege in the House if the Minority Leader brings it up as a "privileged resolution," which means the House must bring the legislation to the floor for a vote
