Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., issued the following statement after voting no on obstructionist legislation by Republican Senator Ted Cruz, of Texas, related to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline:

"Senator Cruz had an opportunity to come up with serious legislation dealing with Nord Stream 2, but instead he wrote a bill that would hogtie the Senate with procedural votes and obstruct progress on all the other issues that matter to American families. This is the latest example in a pattern in which Senator Cruz tramples on the important American principle of leaving politics out of U.S. national security matters. I strongly oppose the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and support sanctioning the Putin allies constructing it, which is why it's a shame that Senator Cruz's overtly political legislation prevented the Senate from having a real debate on those priorities."
