Matsui: Patriot Act Ignores Common Sense Reforms, Votes Against Legislation

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-5) issued the following statement, reiterating her opposition to the Patriot Act.
"We must do all that we can to ensure our national security, but at the same time we must take into consideration the rights and privileges upon which this nation was founded. The Patriot Act compromise falls short and fails to include common sense reforms. As a result, the Patriot Act will continue to focus our limited resources on invading the privacy of innocent Americans rather than focusing those limited anti-terrorism resources on suspected terrorists."
