First of all, I'm glad to see more unified global action against Russia -- last night the US and EU moved to expel some Russian banks from the network that connects them globally, SWIFT.

Throughout this crisis, we've seen unity both domestically and internationally. The vast majority of US senators and our international allies agree that crushing, escalating sanctions are currently the best way to address Russia's unprovoked attack.

Frankly, I don't know if we would have seen so much unity a year ago. It's a credit to Biden's administration that they've restrengthened NATO after former President Trump weakened some of those alliances.

Putin appears isolated and is not consulting with a broad network. Our intelligence suggests that he underestimated the strength with which Ukraine would resist this attack.

I appeared with my friend @SenRobPortman this morning on @MeetThePress, and we expressed strong respect for the way President Zelensky has rallied Ukrainians to unity.

I'm relieved that Russia's cyber attacks have been fairly limited thus far, but it is clear they have the capacity to do much more, and that it could be potentially devastating for neighboring NATO allies. I'm monitoring this closely and getting continuous briefings.

Finally, I'm encouraging the Senate to pass my bipartisan cyber reporting legislation that would require more communication between the government and private sector in the case of a cyber attack. We can and should get this done this week."
