House Agriculture Committee member Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) released the following statement on today's announcement that the USDA will Invest $1 Billion in Climate Smart Commodities, Expanding Markets, Strengthening Rural America:
"The Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities Secretary Vilsack announced today marks a promising step forward in our fight against climate change and shows he, the USDA, and the Biden Administration recognize the agriculture sector's potential to be a key part of the climate solution. I look forward to continuing to work with the USDA to put our agricultural sector on a path to net zero emissions by 2040, in line with my Agriculture Resilience Act."
