Dear Administrator Fernandez,
We write of the application submitted by the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) for funding the Bus and Bus Facilities Grant Program that will house administrative offices, operational staff facilities, and vehicle maintenance. This facility will also be used for fueling and storage space for the Regional Transit Service (RTS) Access, the RGRTA's paratransit operation.
Operating in the eight-county area in and around Rochester, New York, the RGRTA provides transportation to tens of thousands of residents in the Rochester community. Since its establishment in the 1960s, the RGRTA has become a leader in providing quality transportation access to residents in the Rochester community. However, the RGRTA's current RTS Access facility- which serves as a headquarters for some 53 vehicles and 119 employees- is more than four decades old and beyond its useable lifespan.
The requested funding will be used to build a new facility to house RGRTA administrative operations and better support the RTS Access program. This new facility will allow the RGRTA to service its paratransit customers and enhance the reliability of transit services for those who regularly depend them.
We ask that you please give this application your full consideration.
Sincerely,
