Rep. Sewell Statement Ahead of President Biden's Voting Rights Address in Atlanta

Statement

Date: Jan. 11, 2022
Location: Atlanta, GA
Issues: Elections

Today, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) will join President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in Atlanta, Georgia, as they deliver remarks about the need to protect the constitutional right to vote and the integrity of our elections from corrupt attempts to strip law-abiding citizens of their fundamental freedoms and allow partisan state officials to undermine vote counting processes. Rep. Sewell released the following statement ahead of the President's address:

"When it comes to protecting the sacred right to vote, the time for talk is over and the time for action is NOW. That is why leadership from the very top is needed now more than ever. I am thrilled that President Biden and Vice President Harris made voting rights their top priority and I am proud to stand with them in Atlanta today. I will listen closely as the President lays out his plan of action to pass H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and I look forward to seeing urgent and immediate action on this critical legislation. The legacy of John Lewis and the Foot Soldiers demands nothing less."
