Today, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi voted in favor of the Build Back Better Act, once-in-a-generation legislation specifically focused on growing the economy, combatting climate change, and reducing the everyday costs faced by working families, including health care and child care. The budget package includes provisions championed by Congressman Krishnamoorthi such as expanded funding for workforce development, robust reforms to our high-skilled immigration system, expanded incentives for manufacturing solar technology, the first federal taxes on vaping devices, and funding to increase the supply of COVID-19 vaccines .

"Our constituents elected us to help improve their lives and the Build Back Better Act is entirely focused on that mission," said Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. "In writing this legislation, we specifically targeted the biggest challenges facing American families as we recover from the pandemic, combat inflation, and turn to the opportunities ahead. This bill will cut child care expenses in half for the majority of families, which will not only reduce that financial burden but also allow many Americans who left the workforce during the pandemic to return to work. To combat climate change, we have included the largest investments in clean energy and green technology in American history, creating jobs while we cut emissions. Finally, we increased access to quality, affordable health care and prescription drugs by lowering Affordable Care Act premiums, closing the Medicaid coverage gap, capping insulin prices and out-of-pocket costs for seniors, and requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices."
